Dr. Gerds has been taking care of Minnesota companion animals for 16 years. She knows a thing or two about what may be causing your pet's distress and she certainly knows how to identify proper and appropriate treatment plans given the symptoms and your budget.

Keep in mind pets like newborns, can't vocalize or tell you what's wrong with their health. It takes blood work, advanced diagnostic capability and  experience to determine the causes of distress and formulate a proper treatment plan to help make your pet feel better.

Advanced Care can present you with facts of your pet's blood chemistry work if you choose, using our advanced in-house diagnostics.

Next we help you understand your pet's condition. We will present you with treatment options and help you  decide how you want to proceed with your pet's health care. We will not perform any treatment you wish to decline for your pet.

We can give you your pet a CBC - A Complete Blood Chemistry profile faster than your family doctor! We can provide your pet's essential blood results while you wait!

In some cases we have to send out for tests, but we can identify and isolate most results right here.

We explain the results and let you know what are acceptable values for your companion's blood chemistry. Then we present you with options for your pet's health care treatment options. We allow you to decide on the path to follow.

And to top it off, you will expect us to provide it at a reasonable cost.

Since New Years, one week after we opened, 19 dogs have since tested positive for Lyme’s Disease. We are just 1 pet hospital in the region and we've only been open 6 months.

If your dog spends time outside, even if it's only on a leash or in your yard, you owe it to your pet's health to test it for Lyme's. Minnesota is 2nd in the nation behind Connecticut for the highest incidence of Lyme's Disease.

There is a lot of misinformation about the diagnosis & treatment of Lyme's circulating here in Central Minnesota. Talk to a Veterinarian you can trust to
give you up-to-date facts.

Some of that information has come from from outdated Veterinary medicine texts which have recently been updated. On June 8th, Dr. Gerds attended a continuing education seminar presented by Dr. Steve Levy, a veterinary doctor and leading researcher in the Lyme's disease in pet populations. We're actually altering some of our protocols based on what we learned at the seminar.

About Dr. Gerds

Dr. Pamela Gerds has 16 years of small animal veterinary experience. She is our only vet at the moment, and yes, all those years of experience are hers alone!

She is a lifelong Minnesota resident, receiving her DVM at the University of Minnesota and practicing exclusively small animal pet health care.

Dr. Gerds served  ten years in Fergus Falls as an Associate Veterinarian. In 2003 she became the Chief of Staff and partner doctor of a busy practice in Plymouth, Minnesota. This is her 1st personally owned and operated pet hospital.

She is a career long member of the American Veterinary Medical Association as well as the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association. We're new members of the Sartell Chamber of Commerce.
