Dr. Gerds, "Back in the Day."

Dr Gerds realized her calling early in her youth.
Here is one of the Wood Ducks she raised until
it was ready for release
One characteristic shared by many of Pamela's Pets are the long lives they enjoy.
Also notable is that numerous ones were rescue pets.
So rather instead of a bunch of stock photos and clip art you might see on most vet web sites, here are some real pictures right from the family photo album. In fact, just about every last one of the pictures on this site were taken by us.
Here is a brief profile of Pamela's Pets over the years.

Scout – Pictured above as a puppy. He is a long-haired miniature
dachshund. I watched him being born
in 2000 at the animal hospital and adopted him two months later.

St Cloud MN Animal Hospital. Here is Scout today with his classic pose.
Biwabik – She was brought in as a stray and her original home could
not
be found. Now she has a microchip!
We adopted her fall of
2008, when
she was approximately one year old. She donated blood to have a Wisdom
Panel performed. The results showed that she is unequivocally a
Yorkipoo (Yorkshire Terrier and Toy Poodle).
By the way, the microchip paid off when she unknowingly ran off.
She was brought to a nearby pet hospital and she was recovered
within an hour.
.
Solo – Tennessee Walker and Quarter Horse cross. Approx. 14 yrs
old. We have had him since 2006.

Levi – Quarter Horse and Morgan? Cross. Approximately 14 years
old. We have had him since 2006. Also great for riding and
capable of very good speed. Here he is celebrating the arrival of
Spring in Minnesota.
The Goat – (AKA, Avon) - She is a 2002 model…..of some kind, not sure of the breed. Levi is her favorite horse friend and she is never far from him. We have had her since 2005.
The closest ID we could guess at was Australian Feral Goat based on pictures found on the Web.

Annie – she was given this name because she was a “’Little Orphan Annie”. She was brought in at two days of age for euthanasia…..the owner instead surrendered her to me. She grew well on her bottled formula! She was with me for 12 years.
Sparkle – Toy poodle from Junior High on. I frequently made him
pose
in outfits for pictures. He didn’t seem to mind. He got
snacks out of
the deal. He was with me for 16 years.

Sterling – Silver Toy Poodle #2. Sterling was frequently draped
across my
lap during classes at Vet School. He was with me for 16 years.

Trevor – Portuguese Water Dog. I rescued him from being a sugery
dog in Vet School. He was only 6 months old and I performed several
major surgeries in Vet School on him before I was able to take him home
to live with me. Trevor was with me for 17 years.
Cedar – Long-haired Tabby cat. She was a part of a research
project at the University of Minnesota. Once retired from the
study, I was able to adopt her. She enjoyed 17 more years.

Here is Tom an American Yupik Eskimo with Scout & Trevor . .
.
I rescued him from a life of
endless corporate acquisitions, layoffs and Jam Band music
festivals. So far I've trained him to keep the ice cube
trays full, the Ice tea fresh and have dinner ready when I get home.
He helps me every day at the Pet
Hospital and at home. I really Love this Guy.
He really allows me to help you! It's like having a 10 Gig back up
flash drive that cooks.
Tom once was once a database marketing genius and still is. His
skill set includes database design, managing data, keeping it accurate
and
training folks on how to use the data to make life good.
He designs and builds small wood boats for a hobby and is fixing up a few vintage flat fender Jeeps from the late 40's. He works on this web site and has one of his own: www.finewoodwatercraft.com.
